A month ago, Sagar Jain had no idea that he would soon be a part of a social initiative supported by many. The 22-year-old Vile Parle East resident has been feeding the poor every Sunday for a month now.A student of MMK college, Sagar used to see many destitute people near the Jain Mandir in his locality and wanted to do something for them. One day he decided to give them tea and biscuits, bought with his pocket money. Then he never stopped. Every Sunday, Sagar visited the Jain mandir at Thane wala lane in Vile Parle East. His friends Dharmil Jain, 24 and Sejal Sundesha, 35, too joined him in his initiative. In a few weeks, they realised that they should take food too as they collect enough money with their friends joining them making it a group of 10. They have name the group ‘Social’.“We are using our pocket money for this by together keeping Rs 500 aside. Around 30 people help us with the money and we get food like poha, sheera etc from the nearby restaurants for these people,” explains Sagar."We are looking forward to spreading this activity in north Mumbai’s Andheri and Borivali. Many people see us and read our messages on Whatsapp and Facebook and help us," adds Sagar.
