CV Raman Nagar: Abandoned road asphalted

June 18, 2014 By Team Icmyc

It was a roller coaster ride for people commuting on the road between Suranjandas Road to the T-junction at Abdul Kalam Road, as the stretch had more dents than asphalt.

To avoid riding on the road, motorists use to ride on footpaths which posed great danger to pedestrians.

Mahendar Singh, an active member of I Change My City, decided to draw the attention of the citizens and the civic authorities towards the pathetic condition of the road and posted a complaint on the portal.

The complaint was taken up on priority by I Change My City team. Retired Chief Engineer of the BBMP, Sathyanarayana Lingiah, B.E., who also works as the Liaison Officer for I Change My City, personally looked into the matters necessary to resolve the complaint.

“Water accumulation caused the road to deteriorate. Over the years, the asphalt was chipped off. The best solution was to re-asphalt the road and ensure that a slight slope was maintained to enable rain water to flow to the side,” says Sathyanarayana.

He also discussed matters regarding the repair of the road with BBMP Traffic Engineer Cell, Assistant Engineer- in-Charge, Badagar, who informed that the work was sanctioned to GVR Company, and would start soon.

Within 45 days of posting the complaint, the road was neatly asphalted.

As many as 12 people, who voted up the complaint on I Change My City, were enthralled with the quick response taken by the BBMP.

“The entire stretch has been asphalted, and is in perfect condition,” says Vrushab, who further closed the complaint on the portal giving it resolved status.
