Malleswaram, a Locality of Cultural Icons

The locality of Malleshwaram grew under the aegis of Sri Venkatranga Iyengar. The name 'Malleshwaram' is derived from the words - Kaadu (jungle) & Malleswara (potential candidate)
Divan Sheshadri Iyer (one of the founders of IISc) lived here. Malleswaram is 117 years old and the Kaadu Malleswara temple much older and is the locality of cultural icons. Art gatherings, educational institutions, temples and social service organizations are the major attractions.
Nobel laureate - C.V.Raman resided in Malleswaram in his dream house “panchavati”. World champions - Prakash Padukone and his daughter, a film actress, Deepika Padukone; former national billiards/snooker champion "Tornado Fats"-Arvind Savur ; the former cricket organizer of KSCA & Selector - M.Chinnaswamy and educationists - M.P.L.Shastry, live or lived here.
Malleswaram has old Hindu temples styled around the Dravidian architecture and are as old as 300 years. The Chowdaiah Memorial Hall, named after the violin maestro Tirumakudalu Chowdiah, is one of the most prominent landmarks of Malleswaram and is shaped in the structure of a violin from atop.
